This sword modeling project was a deep dive into ornamental weapon design, blending medieval fantasy aesthetics with modern 3D texturing workflows. I focused on two unique sword variations—each telling its own visual story through intricate engravings, contrasting materials, and a rich combination of metallic gold, weathered iron, and polished marble. The goal was to develop game-ready assets that not only showcased technical precision but also conveyed narrative potential. From embossed runes on the guard to the precise diamond-cut inlays on the blade, every detail was crafted to highlight craftsmanship, symmetry, and realism within a stylized universe.
Process Notes:
Modeled the base meshes in Blender with a clean, quad-based topology optimized for real-time use
Sculpted subtle edge wear and surface imperfections to enhance authenticity
Created custom smart materials and hand-painted metallic textures in Substance Painter
Employed emissive channels for engraved runes to simulate magical glow when lit in Marmoset
Final renders were composed with studio lighting to emphasize form, depth, and reflective material contrast
