Chronotime Watch Product Animation
Personal Project (Portfolio Practice)
2019
Chronotime Watch Product Animation is a personal portfolio project focused on showcasing a luxury timepiece through cinematic 3D animation. The animation highlights both the exterior craftsmanship and the intricate internal mechanics of the watch.
An exploding view animation was incorporated to reveal the detailed inner components, emphasizing modeling accuracy and storytelling through motion.
Modeling:
Created all major components — watch case, dial, gears, crown, screws, and straps — using Maya with high-poly precision modeling techniques.Texturing:
Applied physically-based materials (PBR) in Octane Renderer, crafting realistic brushed metals, polished glass surfaces, and subtle roughness for authenticity.Lighting:
Set up a clean studio-style HDRI environment with additional soft rim lighting to enhance reflections and create a premium product feel.Animation:
Executed a slow turntable rotation combined with a cinematic dolly camera movement.
Incorporated an exploded view animation mid-sequence to dynamically reveal the internal mechanics and structure.Rendering and Post-Production:
Rendered using Octane's PMC kernel for photorealistic results.
Final touches including glare, light bloom, and color grading were applied in After Effects to enrich visual appeal.
Produced a high-quality luxury product animation suitable for commercial watch advertisements or branding projects.
Elevated portfolio by demonstrating expertise in detailed 3D modeling, cinematic storytelling through animation, material realism, and rendering finesse.
Built strong foundations in using Maya for complex mechanical modeling and Octane Render for physically accurate light behavior and material rendering.
