Hello World
Personal Creative Project
2024
Hello World is a short, experimental motion piece blending minimal 3D modeling in Blender with 2D compositing and animation techniques in After Effects. Built as a standalone personal project, it explores how simple shapes, ambient lighting, and smooth transitions can evoke emotion — all within a tight creative timebox.
This animation was a focused study on integrating 2D and 3D workflows. Starting with simple geometric objects and camera setups in Blender, I experimented with lighting and emission to create visual depth. After rendering, the scenes were enhanced in After Effects using keyframe animations, text overlays, glow effects, and post-compositing techniques. The challenge was to strike a balance between cinematic motion and minimal design, using only the essentials.
Key tools and techniques:
Blender: Camera animation, light emission, basic geometry
After Effects: Typography, glow, transitions, compositing
No sound, visual storytelling only
The result is a visually engaging, abstract “first message” – a stylized nod to the classic programming phrase Hello World, but through the lens of motion design. The goal was to elicit a "damn!" reaction using just form, light, and motion — no voice, no narrative. It now serves as a signature intro for future reels and portfolio branding.
