A short character animation created as part of Touro University's official 45-minute welcome video for new student orientation. The animation introduces student life and campus excitement through expressive, friendly characters — crafted to engage and emotionally connect with incoming students. This animation served as the opening segment to set a positive and energetic tone for the entire event.
Starting from scratch, I illustrated and designed the characters in Adobe Illustrator, focusing on clear, joyful expressions and approachable visual style. The full character was then rigged and animated in After Effects, including advanced facial rigging to capture subtle emotions like smiles, eyebrow raises, and head tilts.
The animation was carefully timed to reflect student enthusiasm, using smooth motion curves and warm color palettes to communicate optimism and belonging. I handled both the visual direction and technical execution, delivering on a tight 45-day timeline for a 45-minute final video.
The final animation successfully opened Touro University’s orientation event, receiving positive feedback for its clarity, warmth, and inviting tone. It brought life and relatability to the welcome experience, helping students feel at ease and excited about their journey ahead. The animation now stands as a proud visual asset within the university’s student communication material.
